If so, apply today!Job Description The First Grade Teacher is responsible for one homeroom of up to 17 students. They will be responsible for teaching literacy, math, and social studies; creating a warm, supportive classroom climate that emphasizes inclusion, social-emotional development, and self-regulation; engaging with parents as partners in their child's education; and collaborating with their grade-level teaching partner to provide a consistent and cohesive first grade experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the other first grade teacher and with specialist teachers to design a challenging, engaging, and supportive first grade year for all students. A creative, innovative, and dedicated teacher, this individual is passionate about teaching to the whole child, experienced in the science of reading and designing integrated curriculum, and willing to engage in extra-curricular activities beyond the required school day. This skilled teacher fosters open and positive relationships among parents, students, and fellow teachers and dedicates themselves to our core principles of character, educational vigor, diversity, and community.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide effective, engaging, and inspirational instruction in the implementation of the first grade curriculumCollaborate closely with the grade level teaching partner and other faculty to provide a challenging, cohesive, mission-aligned experience for all studentsEstablish and communicate to students well-defined objectives and evaluation for each lesson, including related projects and activitiesMaintain an engaging and motivational environment in support of the school's programs and initiativesCreate a structured, supportive, encouraging, and creative culture within the classroom and among the studentsLead parent conferences, manage frequent and effective parent communications, and partner with parents to ensure the success of every studentEmbrace and uphold the school's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets, including curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom cultureDemonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunitiesContribute to school life by promoting positive school spirit, sponsoring student after school activities and serving on academic committeesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Education or equivalent required; Master's degree preferredTraining in the IMSE literacy program and expertise in the science of reading are highly desirable.Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experienceProficiency in the effective application of classroom technologyExceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills ARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM?All interested applicants applying for this position should submit their resume, cover letter, and salary requirements.
