Job Description:
Process Engineer Overview The Process Engineer will provide
process engineering technical support to Operations, Maintenance,
Facilities Engineering, and various corporate departments. This
position is responsible for engineering activities that include
identification and initiation of plant improvement projects,
support of plant capital projects, technical support to production
teams, resolution of technical regulatory issues, and
development/presentation of technical training. The complexity of
assignments will vary based on experience level, with more senior
engineers handling increasingly complex projects requiring
development of new or improved products/processes/techniques. Note:
Multiple positions are available across various seniority levels
with responsibilities and expectations commensurate with
experience. Junior to Mid-Level: 2-4 years of experience Mid-Level:
5-7 years of experience Senior-Level: 8-10 years of experience
Responsibilities: Exhibit a high degree of cooperation/teamwork
with multiple departments Demonstrate flexibility in work
activities to support cross-functional department and position
assignments Communicate opportunities for manufacturing improvement
to management, develop justifications for projects and improvement
initiatives, and carry out implementation of approved projects
Develop technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated
carbon and maintain current chemical engineering skills Seek out
and develop new tools to advance and improve the company's
engineering and carbon manufacturing processes Provide support to
Facilities Engineering to develop and execute new projects Develop
process flow diagrams, conceptual material and energy balances, and
draft P&IDs to support business cases and capital appropriation
requests Perform economic analysis of proposed projects and
consider multiple alternatives before presenting proposals Work
with outside engineering contractors to guide their efforts, answer
technical questions, and ensure technical correctness of proposed
solutions Collaborate with engineering contractors to develop
detailed design documents based on conceptual work Verify equipment
and process specifications and material/energy balances produced by
outside engineering firms Work with internal Project Managers to
ensure that projects will deliver on production, operability, and
operating cost goals Provide engineering support to production
plants as assigned Travel to facilities regularly to understand
processes and engineering needs Maintain good relationships with
plant managers and operational/maintenance staff Identify
opportunities for improvements in process economy, efficiency, and
production rates Participate in cross-functional teams within the
company and intercompany events and initiatives Work with plant
management to seek opportunities for efficiency, cost, and quality
improvements Initiate and obtain approval for cost reduction
projects Coordinate and/or participate in the design, installation
and start-up of new projects Requirements: Bachelor's degree in
Chemical Engineering 2-10 years of experience in a plant
environment (level dependent) Manufacturing
development/optimization experience preferred Strong analytical and
problem-solving skills Excellent communication and teamwork
abilities Willingness to travel to various facilities as needed M1
