Job Description:

AVI Foodsystems is looking for a passionate, ambitious and entrepreneurial leader to join our team as Director for Category Management - Market C (micro markets) and Convenience (C- Stores). This individual will develop and implement design, merchandising, product and research to ensure an industry-leading brand image and continued growth for our self-checkout micro market retail locations. This person will serve as the creative liaison between our marketing, culinary, procurement and operations teams and will have primary responsibility for the ongoing development of our Market C brand. Reporting to the Vice President for Marketing and Strategy, this newly created role possesses strong potential for the qualified candidate to steer the evolution of the Market C brand, including the future opportunity to build and lead a team of direct reports. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leverage consumer insights leading to topline and baseline sales growth by conducting market analysis and concept testing to track key performance indicators relative to product selection and movement
  • Conduct in-depth research into competitive landscape in micro markets and convenience stores by key competition, product selection and marketing strategies
  • Spearhead process to build merchandising and store design strategies
  • Develop segmentation strategies for product selection by business line, demographics and consumer profiles
  • Create planograms with recommended rotational updates for products, promotions and placement
  • Lead annual brand marketing process including developing plans based on consumer base, business division and target volume
  • Drive consumer sales and satisfaction through product innovation, emerging trends, technology, and customization
  • Leverage national, regional and local supplier partnerships to identify promotional opportunities and special events supported with advertising
  • Lead process for design of retail packaging, labeling, and signage
  • Build retail pricing opportunities to meet consumer needs while driving average guest check
  • Work with Operations to educate teams and garner support for execution of marketing initiatives
  • Create procedures to assess performance by location through audit reports and customer feedback
    • Develop customer research component to frequently deploy product and service surveys to measure brand concept performance Requirements:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or related field demonstrating strong business acumen and analytical thinking
      • Five or more years of experience as a category or brand manager requiring a concentrated background working on a CPG, grocery or convenience store brand
      • Product management and merchandising experience including partnering with multiple suppliers across various categories
      • Strong analytical skills experience required; identify and leverage category analysis along with key qualitative and quantitative insights to develop, test and launch strategic initiatives driven by data
      • Ability to influence C-Suite and leadership team members to implement new programs
      • Project management experience with keen attention to details, along with the ability to achieve timelines and budget parameters
      • Ambitious self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
      • Entrepreneurial mindset
      • Availability to travel approximately 50% of work hours
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
