Join our exceptional team and help us continue to provide the highest quality of health care possible to our communities.SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The TRAUMA COORDINATOR assists the Director with day-to-day administration of the trauma program and is responsible for the assessment, coordination, and evaluation of all aspects of care rendered to the trauma patient in order to maximize all components of the trauma care system.EDUCATION:Masters Degree preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from accredited School of Nursing.Current RN license in Ohio.State of Ohio EMS Instructor or Special topics Instructor preferred.TNCC instructor preferred.EXPERIENCE:Minimum three years recent experience in emergency or critical care nursing; minimum of five years nursing experience.Certification in emergency nursing or critical care nursing (preferred).Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.Trauma Nursing Core Course certification preferred.Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledge and skill required to perform the job responsibilities for both technical and dimensional content.In-depth Knowledge of Specialized Field or Working Knowledge of Professional FieldHas in-depth knowledge of a specialized technical or administrative field, or a broad working knowledge of a professional fieldAnalyzes and interprets complicated information.Determines a course of action based on general guidelines.May modify existing forms, procedures, or methods.May use highly sophisticated equipment requiring extensive trainingPROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKING:The degree to which judgment and analysis must be planning, investigating issues, and evaluating alternative solutions to the challenges posed by the job. Provides planning, direction, assessment and evaluation to ensure market competitiveness, effective 24-hour operations and adherence with the Health Centers mission, values, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.Assists in the planning and review of all programs and services in view of the Health Centers mission and values.Develops and establishes operating policies consistent with overall policies and objectives and ensures their adequate execution. Appraises and evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and periodically reports these results to their respective Director.Selects, trains/orients and assigns staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations on personnel actions.Collaborates in the development and implementation of procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow, and to support overall management control systems.Collaborates in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based upon broad area goals.Participates in gathering, investigating, researching, and/or initiating studies and/or activities affecting health center-wide or intra/interdepartmental operations.Assists Director in recommending and updating long-range plans which support the health centers mission and general objectives.Ensures compliance with specified regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies.3. Manages health center resources for their assigned areas in a manner consistent with the health centers plan.Plays an active and responsible role in the annual departmental budget process by anticipating future needs and reflecting these in budgetary requests.Prepare requests for utilization of health center resources (i.e. capital/staff) in a clear concise manner consistent with health center policies.Manages department resources in a manner consistent with departmental budgets and departmental activity.Adequately explains departmental account variances from budget on a monthly and year-to-date basis, consistent with policy and their Director.4. Responsible for coordinating trauma services at SJHC.Maintain current knowledge of trauma criteria.Ensures departments understand trauma criteria.Assists department managers in meeting trauma criteria.Prepares departments for consultation and site visits.Co-ordinates consultation and site visits.Co-ordinates trauma meetings.5. Functions as a role model in the use of the nursing process and develops, introduces and evaluates new approaches to trauma nursing practice.Collaborates with nursing management and staff nurses in defining, guiding, and evaluating nursing practice in the provision of trauma care.Serves as a nursing consultant to other members of the multidisciplinary team and to community agencies and facilities.Assumes responsibility of acquiring, using, and evaluating new knowledge and skills in the area of trauma nursing.Collaborates with the trauma service, support and education resources within the hospital and within the extended community.Acts as a resource person to patients and families, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.6. Assesses and evaluates all aspects of the care rendered to the trauma patient.Monitors the Trauma Teams availability, rules, responsibilities, and resources.Collaborates with other members of the hospital health team in order to facilitate a multidisciplinary quality assurance review of the care of the trauma patient; participates in the Trauma Systems Committee.Assists the registrars in the development and maintenance of the trauma registry, offering clinical expertise as necessary.Analyzes registry data on the trauma patient population to identify trends for strategic planning and performance improvement.7. Coordinates trauma education, concerning all phases of trauma care, including prevention and rehabilitation.Collaborates with the Organizational Education Department in planning, providing, and evaluating trauma nursing education.Assist with Advanced Trauma Life Support Courses.Plans, provides and evaluates community educational programs.Participates in professional outreach educational programs.Provides follow up information to referring institutions/agencies.8.
