Job Description:
Job Description Hours: 8am - 4:30 pm, occasional closing shifts
that may extend past 4:30 pm Travel: This position will require
travel to other Children's Hospital satellite locations in both
Erie, PA and Greater Pittsburgh areas. This nurse will work with
our dedicated allergy provider in Erie. This nurse will collaborate
with our provider and the main allergy division at CHP to initiate
Allergen Immunotherapy (AIT), Venom Immunotherapy (VIT), and Oral
Immunotherapy (OIT). This nurse will be responsible for
communicating with the allergy division regarding supplies,
medication orders, serum orders, and scheduling patients for AIT,
VIT, and OIT. This nurse will also assist with continuing the
biologics administration program in Erie, including communicating
with CHP Main regarding obtaining medications, educating
parents/guardians with home administration of injections, and
scheduling of patients. Responsibilities: Applies evidence?based
practice to support clinical improvements. Builds positive
relationships with leaders, providers, staff, patients, and
families. Functions effectively in complex settings with shifting
priorities; demonstrates strong clinical judgment and critical
thinking. Maintains physical capability for patient care tasks.
Teaches patients, families, students, and new staff using sound
learning principles; supports ongoing development and open
feedback. Develops holistic, patient?centered care plans;
coordinates care and assists physicians. Identifies clinical and
psychosocial issues; communicates clearly with the care team and
documents thoroughly. Aligns practice with organizational standards
to improve safety, quality, and satisfaction. Engages in
professional development, shared governance, and change
initiatives; supports team members and practice improvements.
Demonstrates accountability, cultural awareness, healthy work
habits, and attention to workplace safety. BSN preferred Minimum 6
months experience preferred Experience with Allergy Injections
preferred Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills
necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages
of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
Must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and
development over the life span and possess the ability to assess
data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the
appropriate information needed to identify each patient's
requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide
the care needs as described in the department policy and
procedures. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC
approved national certification preferred. Current licensure as a
Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the
facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact
agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR
required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and
skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Basic Life
Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 33 / Act
34 / Act 73 with renewal *Current licensure either in the state
where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state
covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC)
agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC
state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC
license who later change their residency to the state where the
facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their
residency to apply for licensure within that state. UPMC is an
