Step Down Ability to read telemetry strips Description: Step Down
RN position available for night shifts. Nurse to patient ratio is
typically 1:4. In emergencies, the ratio may be 1:5. No drips are
administered in this lower acuity step down unit. The contract
length is 13 weeks, with possible extensions. Shifts include
weekdays and every other weekend. Required skills include IV start
and telemetry monitoring. Patients primarily consist of those with
cardiac conditions. Nurses will also care for other
medical/surgical patients. Advanced skills may include telemetry,
hemodialysis management, and wound care. Candidates should be
prepared for rapid response and code team involvement. Compliance
with attendance policies is crucial, as only 2-3 call-offs are
tolerated per contract. Certification requirements include BCLS and
ACLS, obtained from the American Heart Association. Candidates must
have 2 manager or charge references within the past 2 years.
Submissions must include verification of all required
certifications. Proper documentation is essential; failure to
provide it may result in delays. Full documentation should be
submitted before the outlined deadlines. This position helps
support an interdisciplinary team, including physical and
respiratory therapy. Successful candidates will have a thorough
understanding of cardiac telemetry and management protocols.
