Job Description Univeristy of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a
Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse
Practitioner to help support PsychCarePlus. \n \n Hours: Four
10-hour shifts \n Location: Western Psychiatric Hospital \n
Position Specifics: There are 2 components to this position:
PsychCare Plus and Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES). This is a
unique role because it allows the APP to practice hands-on
psychiatry in the PES, where they will see patients of all ages,
complete a psychiatric evaluation, and formulate a treatment plan
based on the determined level of care the patient needs. At the
same time, the APP will be functioning in an administrative/bed
management role through PsychCare Plus, in which the APP will
review referral packets from outside facilities and determine if
the patients’ meet criteria and are appropriate for WPH admission.
For accepted patient referrals, the APP will coordinate the steps
in the transfer process that are required to be done by a provider,
including ensuring safe and accurate medication reconciliation and
admission orders. The APP will also assist the non-provider staff
in PsychCare Plus to troubleshoot problems with pending referrals
to expedite patients being placed in the appropriate level of care.

Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified
Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery
team. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and
quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and
accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and
collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides
patient care activities for a group of patients and their families
through the application of independent judgment, communication, and
collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP
encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership,
collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains
collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care
providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient
outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to
demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare
profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to
years and months of experience for employment purposes. \n \n
Responsibilities: \n \n Applies basic professional practice
knowledge and skills appropriate for practice setting. Communicates
effectively, both verbally and in documentation. Demonstrates

maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business
Unit practice. \n \n Licensure, Education, Certifications, and
Clearances \n Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner ( CRNP): \n
\n The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner
program is required \n BSN, MSN is preferred \n Professional
nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is
preferred \n Current state RN license and CRNP certification are
required \n National certification, eligible for licensure by
Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP
by Pennsylvania state board of nursing \n Current CPR certification
is required \n Act 33 Clearance will be required \n Act 73
Clearance will be required \n Act 34 Clearance required \n \n
Physician Assistant (PA): \n \n A graduate of a physician assistant
program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on
Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required \n BS or
MS candidate is preferred \n Experience as a physician assistant
and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred \n Current
state PA license certified by the National Commission on
Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required \n
Current CPR certification is required \n Act 33 Clearance will be
