is hiring a Full-Time Professional Staff Nurse to support our 5
Pavilion nursing unit. \n Here’s how we support our nurses: \n \n

options!) \n \n About the Unit: 5 North Pavilion has 30 private
beds and is primarily orthopedic service line including elective
joint replacements, joint revisions and fractures. 5 North Pavilion
also specializes in urological surgery, including robotic
prostatectomies and bladder resections. \n We offer a wide range of
medical management. New and experienced nurses will experience an
exciting range of services including wound care, surgical recovery,
patient education, and the opportunity to see motivated patients
work to get back on their feet through physical therapy and other
nursing modalities. Among patient care, nurses will have the
opportunity to participate in hospital-based councils, committees,
research projects, and continued unit development and quality
projects. We strongly encourage our nursing staff to continue their
education through academia and/or certifications, in-services and
conferences. \n Our Registered Nurses work rotation shifts
including weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage on the

\n The Professional Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC
nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and
advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon
education and nursing experience. \n Responsibilities: \n \n
Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally
and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions,
enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.
\n Demonstrates an understanding of cultural differences and holds
peers accountable for healthy relationships. \n Provides detailed
and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively
guide them through the episode of care as well as transition to
another level of care and/or home. \n Supports the development of
students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor. \n
Formulates daily goals and a plan of care for patients that
involves the patient as partner and considers the individual needs
of the patient in a holistic manner. \n Practices solid
communication skills, and is able to articulate and translate the
patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and
make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit
practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes
communication between caregivers. \n Creates a caring and
compassionate patient focused experience by building healing
relationships with patients, families and colleagues. \n Serves as
a highly engaged and full partner on the care team and responds
willingly to care team member needs for assistance and partnership.
\n Adapts to change and demonstrates flexibility with the change
process. \n Actively participates in department or unit-specific
quality improvement efforts. Identifies opportunity for quality
improvement to colleagues and management. \n Takes personal
responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with the quality
of care and service. \n \n\t zero to six months experience. \n\t
BSN preferred. \n\t Ability to establish and maintain positive,
caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians,
non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other
departments, and patients/families. \n\t Ability to work
productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle
multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. \n\t Good
clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem
solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient
care. \n\t Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to
lead others in application of the nursing process. \n\t Mobility
and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking,
standing, lifting and positioning of patients. \n \n\n Licensure,
Certifications, and Clearances: \n\n \n\t UPMC approved national
certification preferred. \n\t Current Pennsylvania licensure as a
Registered Professional Nurse. \n\t CPR required based on AHA
standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration
component within 30 days of hire \n\t Basic Life Support (BLS) OR
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) \n\t Registered Nurse (RN) \n\t
